apothecary verde offers cold-process soap-making workshops as an opportunity to practice mindfulness and connect to community while creating a functional product designed to take good care of you.
cold-process soap making is a fascinating alchemy with a storied history that dates back thousands of years and spans multiple cultures and regions.
immersing yourself in this craft, with its ancient roots, while honorably using materials (often organic !) sourced directly from our planet is a deeply grounding and centering experience.
how it works
after an introduction to the art & science of soap-making, you will assist in the batching of a base recipe, developed by instructor and soaper melissa klimo-major. after your group prepares this base, you’ll have time to peruse the wellspring’s collection of essential oils, natural clays/colorants, and botanicals, designing the perfect recipe for your 100% natural soap batch.
your soaps will remain at the apothecary to cure for a few weeks after the workshop, and then you can arrange to pick them up, or opt to have them direct shipped to you for a fee.
what to expect
what’s included
all raw materials, aromatherapy and botanical ingredient resources and education, and all tools and equipment needed for the project + safety goggles, gloves, and masks will be provided (cold-process soap-making involves some chemistry). each student will design and create one pound of soap. (max 8 students per group.)
what to bring
plan to wear old clothing or bring an apron, as you will be working with oils and clays that could stain. refreshments may be provided for workshops, and all groups are welcome to byo/beverages!

private groups
private group bookings include exclusive use of the apothecary studio during the event, premium ingredients, and light group refreshments. groups may also byob, light decor, and a playlist for our in-house bose bluetooth speakers.
book your group for a private workshop - great for friend and family gatherings and small scale team building! private group minimum headcount is 4, and max headcount is 8. groups of fewer than 8 students may still register to make up to 8 batches (8 lbs) of soap.

community workshops
try it solo before gathering your group - apothecary verde also hosts community soap-making sessions, allowing students to register solo for a fun way to meet great new people with like-minded interests! group size: 4-6
if the minimum registration requirement of 4 is not met for a community session, class will be canceled and students will be refunded.

*please advise of any nut, plant, fruit, botanical, or latex allergies before registering for a soap-making event. we can isolate ingredients by request, but our soap lab cannot be guaranteed nut or allergen-free.
